Kippax Band - Manger Folkehogskule
Joint Concert, Castleford Salvation Army

Kippax Band are pleased to announce their first joint concert with Norwegian Band 'Manger Folkehogskule' was a great success. Kippax Band hopes that this will be the first of many joint ventures for the future.
The concert took place at the fantastic venue at the
Salvation Army in Castleford.
The Manger band started the concert playing a great
mix of a programme. Including solos, small ensembles
and pieces showing off excellent technical skills from
The students in the band are part of a 9 month intensive music study programme. The band were welcomed by an English ex student in the audience who had come especially to watch them.
Kippax Band performed in the second half of the concert. Kippax performed a variety of pieces including the cornet solo 'Sugar Blues' performed by Nigel Derbyshire and their latest winning test piece 'First Suite in Eb' by Holst.
The concert finished with a lovely exchange of gifts between the bands. Kippax's conductor Stephen Tighe presented the Norweigen Band with an original composition of a fanfare, written just for them. Kippax band were presented with a hat and some Norweigen chocolate.
A special thanks to everyone who joined us to welcome the Manger Folkehogskule brassband. The Audience were very pleased with the concert and expressed a wish for the joint concerts to continue.
